ASUS RT-AX59U Dual-Band WiFi 6 Extendable Router

Technical Specifications

Product Description

The ASUS RT-AX59U is an AX4200 dual-band WiFi 6 extendable router designed for modern living rooms, executive home offices, multimedia spaces, and smart home networks seeking high throughput without visible external antenna clutter. Featuring an upright, minimalist enclosure with an included multi-purpose stand for desktop standing or clean wall mounting, the router integrates 5 high-gain internal antennas. Enhanced by beamforming technology, these internal antennas direct wireless radio frequencies through structural walls and multi-floor layouts, providing up to 3,000 square feet of stable whole-home coverage.

At the core of the RT-AX59U is a 2.0 GHz 64-bit quad-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM and 128MB of onboard flash storage. This computational architecture processes demanding multi-user queues, stateful firewall inspection, hardware NAT routing, and encrypted VPN tunnels without connection buffering or thermal slowdowns. Built on the IEEE 802.11ax WiFi 6 standard across the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz bands, the router delivers aggregated speeds up to 4200 Mbps—comprising 3603 Mbps over the 5 GHz band (3×3 stream configuration) and 574 Mbps over the 2.4 GHz band (2×2 stream configuration). Technologies including OFDMA and MU-MIMO optimize spectral efficiency, delivering the low latency and sustained bandwidth required for simultaneous 4K Ultra HD video playback, responsive gaming, and video conference calls.

Wired and external expansion features one dedicated Gigabit WAN port and three dedicated Gigabit LAN ports for desktop computers, consoles, and smart TVs. The router incorporates Dual WAN capability, enabling automatic failover and load balancing using a secondary Ethernet connection or a mobile USB modem to maintain continuous internet uptime. External device integration is supported by two onboard USB interfaces—one high-speed USB 3.2 Gen 1 port and one USB 2.0 port—enabling 4G/5G mobile hotspot backup tethering, Download Master file downloads, and centralized local network file storage via built-in Samba and FTP servers. The system supports three primary deployment modes: Wireless Router, Access Point (AP), and AiMesh Node for whole-home mesh network expansion.

Network security is anchored by ASUS AiProtection Classic powered by Trend Micro, delivering lifetime subscription-free defenses including malicious website blocking, vulnerability defense, and infected device isolation. Comprehensive VPN architecture delivers "VPN All Support" across both VPN Server and VPN Client operations for WireGuard, OpenVPN, IPSec, and PPTP, paired with ASUS Instant Guard for one-click encrypted tunneling over public Wi-Fi networks. Completed with advanced parental controls, Bandwidth Management with Adaptive QoS, Traffic Analyzer diagnostics, support for up to 6 isolated guest networks, and IPTV passthrough, the ASUS RT-AX59U provides a clean, secure, and aesthetic WiFi 6 networking solution backed by a 2-year warranty.
